Alternate Wednesdays (June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24, August 7, August 21) 7 - 8:30 p.m.
Join fellow parishioners this summer in reading J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy epic! Did you know that Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and that many of the book’s themes were influenced by his faith? In this summer reading group, we’ll be reading The Lord of the Rings with a special (though not exclusive!) focus on what makes the work “Catholic” and how being Catholic affects the way we understand it. Whether you’re reading it for the first time or the fiftieth, all are welcome!
Begins Wednesday, June 12 at 7pm (and continuing every other Wednesday), meeting in the Decker Room. Please bring a copy of The Fellowship of the Ring (the first volume of The Lord of the Rings) – We will discuss the first section (Book One) at our first meeting. Registration is optional but helps us plan for the meetings.
