There will be a second collection this weekend  for the Needs of the Church in Canada. Your gifts are used by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops to represent Canadian Catholics in national and international pastoral activity. Thank you for your support of this important work!

Michaelmas Day

Parishioners are warmly invited to join the celebrations for Michaelmas (Thursday, Sep 29) — the Patronal Feast Day of the University of St. Michael’s College. Following the 12:10pm Mass, all will be invited to a reception and to join in the festivities. This year, we celebrate both the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Basilian Fathers, and the 170th anniversary of the founding of The University of St. Michael’s College. Also of note is the 175th anniversary of the Loretto Sisters in Canada. A community reception at the Coop will follow the liturgy with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and cake!Please feel free to circulate this invitation.All are welcome to attend!

 

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
This year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022. Cardinal Collins will preside at the 7:30 a.m. Mass from St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica with participation from Indigenous members of the community. Synod on Synodality
Earlier this month, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops released its National Synthesis for Canada. Much of the content reflects exactly what was seen at our local archdiocesan level and secondly reflected in the synthesis, For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission compiled by the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario. Virtual Conference: Ecumenism and Asceticism
October 7-9

The North American Academy of Ecumenists (NAAE) is a community of ecumenically minded individuals from a variety of Christian traditions across North America. It promotes scholarship, church life, and pastoral practice in the service of Christian unity. The upcoming annual conference of the NAAE will be attended by ecumenists, theologians, liturgists, graduate students, church officials, clergy, religious and laity who are actively involved in Christian unity and will explore the role of asceticism in formation for ecumenical engagement, spirituality, liturgy and prayer. Retreat for Cancer Survivors
Wednesday, September 28, 9am–3pm
Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre
1617 Blythe Rd, Mississauga

A retreat for cancer patients and their caregivers will be taking place this fall. The theme of “Come, let Jesus hold you lovingly in His gentle arms and fill you with strength” will lead you in prayer. A relic of St. Peregrine will be in the Chapel during the retreat. The cost to attend is $45, and includes a hot lunch.

Marian Pilgrimage to Guelph

Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate

His Holiness Pope Francis has bestowed upon the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate – the Marian Shrine of the Hamilton Diocese – the honour of having a crowned image of Our Lady. The Solemn Crowning by His Excellency Bishop Crosby will take place on Saturday, October 1. All are invited to join this Marian pilgrimage taking place during the month of the Holy Rosary.
