Baroque music celebrates one of the world’s revered forces for good, when The Musicians In Ordinary and St. Michael’s College honor the feast day of St. Michael, Wednesday, September 28, 7:30 p.m. at St. Basil’s Church, University of Toronto, 50 St. Joseph Street.
Violinist Christopher Verrette leads The Musicians In Ordinary Orchestra, and the St. Michael’s Schola Cantorum is directed by Michael O’Connor, in Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel`s Concerto Grosso in A major, and other baroque music. Soprano Hallie Fishel is featured soloist.
The archangel Michael is revered by the Jewish, Christian and Islamic faiths. Amongst Christians, he is the patron saint of the sick, mariners, paratroopers, police and grocers. (His actual feast day is September 29.)
More information about The Musicians In Ordinary’s season as ensemble-in-residence at St. Michael’s will be announced in the coming weeks.
