Tuesday, October 5, 12, 19, 26 from 7:00-9:00pm.
In response to the TRC’s Call to Action #59, St. Basil’s is offering a discussion series that focuses on the following themes:

  • the spirituality of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples,
  • the history and involvement of the Catholic Church in the residential school system, and
  • the TRC as a roadmap in discerning a path toward healing.

The four-part seminar will be facilitated by Benjamín Luján, a doctoral candidate in theology at St. Michael’s College, who’s teaching and research work focuses on Christian-Indigenous relations. Benjamin has written on Indigenous spirituality and reconciliation and he is a member of an ecumenical committee working on guidelines for Christian ministry among Indigenous peoples, as well as a research project on Indigenous youth activism and spirituality at OISE.

The first three sessions (October 5, 12, 19) will take place via Zoom. For those who do not have access to Zoom, provisions have been made to participate in the sessions in-person at St. Basil’s. You will have the opportunity to indicate this preference in the registration form or by contacting the parish office.

The last session (October 26) takes place within the context of a Liturgy of the Word and will be held at St. Basil’s Church. This session will also be live streamed.

When we receive your registration, you will be emailed the seminar schedule, and preparation resources.
